Short and Sweet

Friday night, we went out and ate with 10 other people, it was great to hang out and have fun!  Saturday, Jay and the kids went to Lee's Pro Shop and I stayed home to work on homework.  Sunday, I got taken out to eat for breakfast and then everyone helped me clean the house with no complaints!!!  That was sooo nice!

Monday, I worked on homework.  Tuesday, I went and took one of my finals at school at 8 am and came back, rented a steamer and took all the border and stickers out of her room, it's starting to get done, now, we just need to paint the kids' rooms!  Today, I go take another final, my second class is done so we are just watching a movie, I got a 99% in that class!

Yesterday, I also brought the kids the to the dr for well-being checkups and everything is good!  I also got a shot, ugh!

whata week!

Alec lost a tooth yesterday!  Yesterday was Mother's Day.  One of the things that were great is I had four helpers to clean my house.  You are probably thinking, cleaning on Mother's Day?  But if I didn't get it done yesterday, I would have to do it by myself.  With my Disk Disorder in my back, a lot of things are hard for me to do.  When I can get assistance, I will do it!  We shampoo'd carpets, cleaned toilet, behind toilet, tub, etc!  It felt so good to get inside the cracks!  That was actually a great Mother's Day gift!

This week is going to be pretty hectic!  I have to go grocery shopping today and study.  I have a six page essay at school tomorrow morning at 8 am.  So Tuesday, that's what I will be doing and then Alec and Jaydan have their well-being checkup that afternoon.  It is suppose to snow on Tuesday so the baseball game may be postponed.  Wednesday, I have an astronomy exam in the afternoon and then another class after that.  I will get home about 9:15 at night and then turn around and be back at school on Thursday at 8 am.  I was suppose to have an afternoon class but I rescheduled it for Tuesday morning.

Thursday, we have Kirsten and Kaylee's confirmation.  First, we eat supper at the church and then drive to Isanti for the ceremony.  What a day!

Friday will be for finishing up the house and getting some food prepared for the confirmation party on Saturday!

Also, Thursday, Jaydan has her field trip to the como zoo and since Jay canceled baseball practice on Thursday, he is going to chaperone!  He just found out what that takes, to chaperone.  He was totally shocked when he found out he had to watch over more than Jaydan.  Last Thursday, I got to chaperone for Alec's class to the Mill City Museum.  I had never been there and it was fun!  I only got a little sick feeling once and that was because of height.  And yes, I had more than Alec in my group!

The one thing good about this week.  I will be a graduate!  I will have my AA!  I do, hopefully start classes again in June for my BA.

Four kids and the single mom

Being a mom is hard, especially doing it by yourself. With Jay being busy with baseball and four away games this week, everything is left on me.  Don't get me wrong, I also worry about Jay since I KNOW he is not sleeping as much as he should.  I went to bed about 11:15-11:30 pm last night and he still wasn't home and when I woke up at 5:45am, he was already out of bed getting ready for the new day.

However, this week is extra stressful with finals this week and next week for college and getting the house in order for the girls' confirmation party on the 15th, plus having to rearrange my finals on the 13th because of the girls' confirmation that day.  Of course to make things even worse, I have been sick for 10 days!  I had the flu for three days and then the next day, allergies!  Kirsten has not been to school this week because she has been sick with the crud and now today, Jaydan's asthma started getting worse so the nebbing started.  Yesterday, Jaydan had girl scouts and today, I signed up Alec for an instrument for band.  The trumpet.  I also had to do this without Jay's knowledge since he hasn't been around.

Today has been a pretty windy day also and this is what happened!  Alec, Jaydan and I had to try to carry this away from the driveway, we didn't get it very far but away from the driveway!

The joys of being in my household!  It could be worse....... right?

BTW, It's Jay's birthday on Thursday!  Happy birthday, Jay!!!!

teenage drivers

Since the tragic accidents this past weekend, all I hear about it what laws the children broke and if it was the parents fault. I wish people would not focus on all this and focus on how to help other children so this doesn’t happen. I had heard that in 118 teenagers dying, 50 were not wearing their seatbelts. Why? What is the reasoning behind this? Is it not “cool” to wear seatbelt or does it take too long to put on? Have there been any studies about this? I think we need to figure out why children are not wearing seatbelts and try to figure out a way to get them to do it. I don’t think teenagers really care about the law. So instead of penalizing teenagers, maybe we should try to teach them.

Teenagers will drink alcohol, not all but some. Instead of focusing on trying to get them to do something they won’t, let’s try to focus on what to do if they decide to drink. (Of course, the ultimate goal is not letting underage children drink.) We do not want them drinking, we don’t want them to drink or drive. I do believe we should focus on them driving after drinking. Where are these kids drinking? If at someone’s home, why are they not spending the night? Is there some way to try to prevent them from drinking? Should parents automatically take kids keys away when they go to someone’s home, no matter if they are drinking or not? Should there be some kind of an anonymous designated driving program, where teenagers, underage children can call and someone will pick them up with no questions asked? I know there was a program where parents and teenagers had an agreement that if the teenager was drinking, the parent would pick them up. I do think that students do not want their parents to know they are drinking; maybe it’s a respect thing. So we need to come up with other solutions. Maybe other students that do not drink can be “on call” to pick up teenagers drinking or maybe someone else they can trust, maybe a family member such as an aunt, uncle, or maybe a friend’s parent that they could call, no questions asked.

With me having teenage drivers, I want them to be as safe as they can be, either them driving or others on the road driving. What other suggestions do you have? How do you think we could go about changing the ways?

I have decided to get a membership to the local gym and start on Friday!!

Jaydan and I got our nails and toe nails painted yesterday at a nail place.

Kirsten and Kaylee got gas cards and Alec and Jaydan got bikes for Easter.

I hopefully find out this week or early next week what is going on with my schooling but I did get a letter a couple days ago, I got accepted at MSU!!!!!  I just have five weeks left of school!

It's been a while

It has been a while since I posted a blog and I thought I would post again!

Jay had a great season in girl's basketball.  The girls he had were pretty good!  His baseball season has now started, he did baseball on Saturday and Sunday this week so he, of course, couldn't do any family stuff.  He is pretty excited about baseball this year, sometimes, I wish he was that excited about his family!  We get him though.

I have been busy since November, I think I went though a midlife crisis and decided to go back to college and quit my job!  I am now a full-time college student and full-time mom, it has been two months and I still love it!

Kirsten is done with basketball and does not do a spring sport.  We thought she broke her nose about a month ago so we ended up bringing her in for x-rays but thankfully, it was not broke, just bruised pretty good for a while!  Kirsten lettered in Basketball!!!!!!

Kaylee finished being a manager for hockey and jumped right into Track and Field, she is pretty excited for this season.  I think she is going to be doing more running this year.  She told me but I don't know what it meant!  lol

In January, a week apart from each other, both girls got their driver's license.  Both girls are having their confirmation in May.  Their confirmation is on a Thursday so we are having their party on a Saturday, May 15th.

Alec still struggles with school, he just doesn't like to do homework!  UGH!  He is a great kid though, he loved playing two different basketballs this year.  He loves his electronics but will help out when I need it.

Jaydan has been loving girl scouts (she sold over 100 boxes of cookies!).  She is in church choir and loves it, she was soo cute on Palm Sunday

On Sunday, Alec, Jaydan and I went to a farm with a friend and her daughter.  The kids enjoyed it so much, we were there for 2 1/2 hours!  We also got two dozen fresh eggs!

That's about all for now, I hope everyone is doing well!!!!
